The short version: this site doesn't track you, sets no cookies of its own, and shares nothing about you with anyone. What follows is the longer version in plain language, because a privacy page written in legal English is just another way of hiding.
What I collect
Visit counts, and that is very nearly all of it. The blog uses GoatCounter, an analytics tool that sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses and builds no profile of anyone. It tells me a post was read forty times and that some readers arrived from Bluesky. It cannot tell me who you are, and neither can I.
If you subscribe
Your email address, and your name if you choose to give one. It lives with MailerLite, who deliver the newsletter for me. I use it to send you posts. That's the whole list of uses — I don't sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone.
Every email has an unsubscribe link that works in one click, and unsubscribing removes you rather than quietly parking you somewhere. If you'd rather I did it by hand, ask.
What this site does not do
- No advertising and no ad networks.
- No Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no heatmaps, no session recording.
- No embedded social widgets. The links to X, Bluesky and Mastodon are ordinary links — they load nothing until you click them.
- No cookies from me. The only thing kept in your browser is whether you chose the light or dark theme, and it never leaves your device.
Three things I don't control
I'd rather name these than claim the number is zero.
The blog runs on Blogger, which belongs to Google. Google's servers see the request when you open a page, the way any host would.
The comment box under each post is Google's as well — an embedded form, inside which Google may set cookies. I can style the frame around it. I can't see inside it.
The fonts come from Google Fonts, which means your IP address reaches Google when a page loads. If that bothers you, a content blocker will stop it and the site will fall back to your system fonts without breaking.
What you can do
Read without subscribing — nothing here is gated. Turn JavaScript off if you prefer; the pages still work. Unsubscribe whenever you like. Or write to me at turkarius@wealthybear.xyz and ask what I hold about you. The answer will be short.
